Gary & Veda Dopson Marilyn Raulerson
The Baker County Education Foundation would like to announce the honorees for the 6th annual "Leaving a Legacy Scholarship Dinner." The honorees are Dr. Gary Dopson and his wife, Veda, as well as Mrs. Marilyn Raulerson. Dr. Dopson and Mrs. Raulerson both served this district for many years in providing free physicals for students participating in sports, as well as attending football games along the sidelines for student safety. Mrs. Veda Dopson retired form our school district, where she served as an art teacher. These individuals have given many years of service to the Baker County School District.

The Baker County Education Foundation had another great year in 2014-15! The Foundation provided $19,850.00 for student scholarships, $3,200.00 for a prior graduate scholarships, $13,871.47 in grants for teachers and schools, and $20,620 for special projects. A total of $57,541.47 was awarded in 2014-15.
During the last 26 years, the Foundation, a non-profit organization, has funded 552 student scholarships, 162 employee and/or prior graduate scholarships, 394 grants for teachers and schools, and 39 special projects, totaling $1,016,072.26. A tremendous amount of this was made possible through payroll deduction by school employees.
The main goal of the Baker County Education Foundation is to promote quality education. Through the years, a number of business partners have participated in helping the Foundation achieve these goals. For 2014-15 they were: Walmart Distribution, First Federal Bank of FL, GFWC Women's Club, In-steel Wire Products, Macclenny Lions Club, Fox Hunters Association, Baker County Farm Bureau, and several local families, who gave memorial or “in honor of” contributions. These are joined by literally hundreds of school district employees and private individuals.
If you are a contributor, we hope that you will continue your support of the Foundation. If you are not involved, please consider becoming a member this year. You will be supporting the development of our greatest assets, our children. Also, the Foundation benefits from the purchase of specialty education vehicle tags. A portion of the tag sale is returned to the Foundation.
