Baker County Education Foundation

PRIOR GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
The Baker County Education Foundation is pleased to offer two Prior Graduate Scholarships: the
Neil & Beatrice Kirkland Scholarship and the Norma G. Kirkland Scholarship. These scholarships were
established for individuals who did not attend college at the time of high school graduation. Applications are
available at the Baker County School District Office, 270 South Boulevard East, Macclenny. The deadline
for submitting applications is Friday, May 30, 2014.
To meet eligibility criteria applicants must: plan to attend a college or some other post-secondary
training institution; be a Baker County resident; been graduated from high school (not necessarily Baker
County High School) or have a GED diploma for at least 3 years prior to deadline application date;
demonstrate financial need; must complete 24 semester hours or the equivalent within 24 months of
receiving scholarship; seek training or studies in a field that leads to employment in that area of specialty;
demonstrate a personal commitment to the completion of the program of study or training; show how this
training will benefit the general well being of Baker County.
The Norma G. Kirkland Scholarship was established by Dr. Ronnie O. Kirkland in memory of his
wife, Norma, a former Baker County High School teacher. In recognition of Norma’s rapport with youth and
the ability to counsel with them, preference for this scholarship will be given to individuals pursuing a major
in youth counseling, social work, or business administration. The Neil & Beatrice Kirkland Scholarship was
established in honor of Dr. Kirkland’s parents.
